Love Bucket Photo bio picture

Welcome...

...to LOVE BUCKET photo's fabulous blog! Here I am posting sneak peeks of recent sessions as well as information on everything else I do and offer. ( > Check out all the awesome things you can do with your precious photographs in the inspiration section under the info tab).

A little bit about myself… I am so lucky to do what I do: I get to create truly meaningful photographs that will be cherished for years and generations to come. This must be the most rewarding aspect of my profession and comes with responsibility!     My family and wedding portraiture can best be described as colorful, whimsical, spontaneous, contemporary, and a bit “larger than life.” I strive to capture those precious moments and interactions that are so fleeting and turn them into a piece of art. While my coverage is very journalistic, I do include posed shots that are more stylized. I am all about variety -  let’s change the outfit, angle, backdrop, mood…I want you to walk away with a whole album of beautiful memories.

Besides the fact that I have always loved photography…I was born in former East-Germany where I lived until my family migrated to West-Berlin in 1989 (exactly six days before the fall of the Berlin Wall). I lived, studied, and worked in Germany most of my life until I met my husband and followed him to the United States. After working in photography both commercially and artistically for a number of years, I received my MFA in photography in 2007 at SCAD and now live with my husband and two sons in Venice, CA. My work has been published and exhibited internationally in cities like Berlin, Atlanta, Savannah, and Los Angeles.

Gorgeous Montana Wedding

This was hands down the most beautiful wedding I have ever been to…a breathtaking setting in rural Montana surrounded by the Rocky Mountains (nothing rural about Stock Farms Country Club though ;-) ), gorgeous decorations, dresses, jewels, food, fireworks – and most of all – amazing people! What a fun crowd this was… see for yourself…even the close-to-freezing-temperatures (FYI it did SNOW about 2 hours before the ceremony!) couldn’t put a stop to the partying that went on. I am so grateful to have been part of Amy & David’s unforgettable day and to have made 2 wonderful new friends in the process. Congratulations you two!! I can’t wait to meet that bouncing baby boy of yours before too long! Oh, and here are their engagement shots from earlier this year – they have amazing chemistry and it shows…

Laurel & Bethany

What is up with the weather this season??!! This is the 4th rained out session this spring… Well, since there was a lot of family in town for Laurel’s 2nd birthday, we couldn’t postpone and so I created a sweet little set indoors. I also had the pleasure to meet the oh-so-adorable addition to the family – Bethany. So cute and in great spirits too. Laurel of course changed quite a bit since our last session and she had a lot of fun with her brand new tricycle which grandma generously gifted. Good to see you all again!

rainy vineyard wedding

Where do I start…wow, what a crazy day this was! It all started with a super last minute venue change (we are talking 24 hrs prior and no new venue yet!!), double bookings, loss of power, and on top of that a downpour 10 min before the outdoor ceremony was about to start. Just terrible luck (then again it’s supposed to be good luck to have rain on your wedding day)…But Gennie and John held it together, took care of business, and with the help of their amazing family and the great staff at Gainey Vineyard put together a beautiful wedding. They ended up having the ceremony in the cozy & intimate barrel room. It was actually a really cool spot to get married – if you like wine that is ;-) . It wasn’t an easy shoot by any means but we made it work and the pictures show how much fun Gennie & John had even with all the stress involved. And right before sunset we actually got a few minutes of sun – yay! Muddy soil and fancy heels & a white dress aren’t the best combination but Gennie was game for a quick excursion and got rewarded with a beautiful rainbow (and a husband!). Everyone really pulled together and had a blast. I feel honored to be part of this crazy wedding day…Congratulations Gennie & John!

John and his two boys getting ready at Petersen Inn, Solvang, CA.

Since everything about her big day changed last minute, I couldn’t be there for Gennie’s hair and make up but I got some awesome shots of  her having fun with her energetic nephew Matthew.

Here comes the rain…

Amy & David

I had a blast taking these beautiful shots of Amy & David and their 2 dogs in Palos Verdes. What a setting! What a couple! So fun – can’t wait to shoot your wedding soon!

Low key DIY Venice Wedding

It’s true – you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a fabulous wedding…just occupy the Venice pier for a short & sweet flashmob-style ceremony held by your best friend. Get another friend to make you a fabulous dress, one to lend his office space for the after party & the classy old Mercedes to travel in style. Being friends with a bunch of photographers sure doesn’t hurt either ;-) Congratulations Christy & Ken, your wedding was magical! Thanks for letting me capture your moments…

Thanks to my dear friend and amazing photographer Zackery Canepari for contributing these fun party shots. (Make sure to check out his series of poignant videos on sunny California – “California is a place” – Congrats on getting into Sundance!!)

Harper & Harrison #3

I love to see kids grow up! I can’t believe how much they have changed…see two years ago and last year! Still super cute though…

sweet as candy

Could you have any more fun during a photo session at a museum – I don’t think so!! This one even beats last year… thanks for coming back for more. I had a blast!
